Meet Nyamuoch

Nyamuoch Miak

Founder of Mama Seed Doula

Birth & Postpartum Doula

Inspiring, teaching, and nurturing have always come naturally to Nyamuoch. Growing up in South Sudan, she watched her mother—her village’s midwife care for families with wisdom, tradition, and love. That early experience planted the seed for Mama Seed Doula.

Now based in Eastern Iowa, Nyamuoch carries that same deep passion into every birth she supports. She understands the power of having a calm, grounded presence during labor, and she is honored to be that person for her clients.

Nyamuoch moved to the U.S. in 2005 without speaking English. Her dedication led her to not only become fluent but to earn an associate’s degree in early childhood education in 2019—all while raising her four children. Her story is one of strength, service, and faith.

As a doula, Nyamuoch brings:

• A calm, steady presence in moments of uncertainty

• A deep instinct for birth and postpartum care

• A heart for teaching and empowering families

• A strong commitment to inclusion and cultural care

When she’s not attending births or supporting new families, Nyamuoch loves singing, crocheting, volunteering at church, teaching her native language to her kids, and cooking delicious Sudanese meals for loved ones.

From teaching swaddling techniques to guiding proper feeding and burping methods, she ensured our baby's comfort and well-being. Nyamuoch's ability to calm a crying baby was remarkable, providing us with much-needed peace of mind.

Additionally, her nourishing meals allowed me to rest and recover. She was punctual and very professional, but friendly and warm throughout. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Nyamuoch Miak's services to any new parent in need of support and care.
